Tax Codes are based on Zip Codes in Pointman and what each zip code might charge percentage wise for taxes. This varies in some areas and Pointman lets you set up every zip code you may be performing taxable services in.
To access these, you can go into Settings, then Jobs, and then Tax Codes
Here, tap the Blue Plus button at the top right to add a new Tax Code. If you want to update an existing Tax Code, you can by clicking on it.
From here, you can input the Zip Code and what percentage you want to charge Tax for, and then hit ADD.
If you want to import a full spreadsheet of Tax Codes that you already have to save time from adding zip codes one at a time you can do so by going to the Configuration Screen, General, and select Data Import/ Export. Click on the Tax Code import.
In order to import, you'll have to make sure your spreadsheet headings match correctly, download the Sample Spreadsheet by clicking on the downward arrow on the right hand side.
The spreadsheet is simple in that you just need to add the zip code and the tax percentage. Once you have it configured exactly you can click on the blue "Click to Upload" button the left hand side and it will import all your tax codes.
If you try to enter a new customer/property and the zip code is not already in your serviceable areas, you will get a yellow warning message that pops up and tells you that this zip code is not yet part of your database. In which case you would want to follow instructions at the top of this article in order to add a new zip code, otherwise it will set the tax to 0.
